Statistics is of vital importance in educational research. It enters the process right from the beginning of the research when the whole plan for the research, selection of design, population, sample, analysis tools, and techniques, etc., is prepared. Planning and carrying out research projects and trying to analyze data without using statistical techniques will carry away from the objectives of the study.

Curriculum and Material Evaluation Design 1 is a compulsory course in English Language Education Department at Universitas Internasional Batam. This course focuses on providing understanding ranging from approaches, theories, and important issues in curriculum development and design. Students are expected to be able to analyze and identify language needs and learning goals and implement them in the suitable curriculum. Students are also expected to be able to choose the material based on the curriculum.

In this complex world with advanced technology, the interaction among people with different background is inevitable. In order to maintain a good relation and smooth communication, understanding about other cultures is an absolute need for global citizen. This lesson will help students to understand the plurality of other cultures in the society across the globe. Students will have an adequate knowledge and practice of communicating with other cultures. The obstacle of a successful intercultural communication will also be a subject of discussion in this lesson. Students are expected to have a good intercultural communication skill and the understanding of other cultures by the end of this lesson.
